Ruger on Monday announced a trio of guns in its new Super Wrangler series of affordable .22 caliber rimfire single-action revolvers.

The company debuted its price-conscious ($250-ish) .22LR-only Wrangler in 2019 and has steadily expanded it in terms of colors, grip styles, and barrel lengths ever since.

Borrowing from the success of that single-action Cerakoted crowd-pleaser, Ruger this week introduced the Super Wrangler, which brings an easily swappable .22 WMR cylinder with it from the factory as well as much better sights.

The weight is 37.7 ounces overall, with the revolver having a definite "heft" to it. Overall length is 11 inches. (Photo: Chris Eger/Guns.com)

The most obvious change to the Super Wrangler is the convertible six-shot .22 Magnum cylinder, which can be swapped out easily and without tools for the standard six-shot .22 LR. We've seen velocities reaching 1,000 fps with CCI's red-tipped polymer-coated Clean 22LRs and over 1,500 fps with CCI's Maxi-Mag V-Max. And if you are wondering, no, Super Wrangler cylinders are not interchangeable with legacy Wrangler or Ruger Single-Six revolvers. (Photo: Chris Eger/Guns.com)

The Super Wrangler ships with genuinely nice sights, including a large, serrated ramp front along with a windage and elevation adjustable target rear. This is a big upgrade from the legacy Wrangler’s rear notch and front blade. (Photo: Chris Eger/Guns.com)

The suggested retail on the new Ruger Super Wrangler .22 is $329 across all three colors. Of note, this is less than half the price of a Single Six convertible.

We have one on hand and plan to show up with an extensive review in the coming weeks. Thus far, it feels and shoots great in initial testing on the range.
