Police in Goochland County, Virginia report that a woman shot a man twice as he was reaching through smashed glass to unlatch her door.

The man, identified by the Goochland Sheriffs Department as Troy George Skinner, 25, was arrested and treated for a gunshot wound to the neck. Officials paint a horrifying story of a determined individual who flew halfway around the world to make contact with the woman’s teenage daughter, who he met while playing video games online.

Although investigators stress the minor broke off contact with Skinner, he flew to Washington, D.C then traveled to Virginia via bus, where he acquired pepper spray and purchased a hunting knife and duct tape at an area Walmart just before the incident that left him wounded and the unidentified family shaken, Richmond.com reported.

Police say Skinner first attempted to gain access to the home through a basement door with a brick, which sent the mother and her two teenaged daughters scrambling. Retrieving her Walther P22 handgun, the mother met the man at the ground-level kitchen door, where he broke the glass in the door with a landscaping stone. Against the mother’s warnings, he reached in to unlatch the door and she shot.

“He is not the victim,” said Sheriff Jim Agnew. “That lady and her family members are the victims.” Skinner, who fled to the front yard of a neighboring house, was flown to VCU Medical Center and is in the custody of a deputy pending charges.
