Trailer: The story of the Deadfoot Arms and the folding AR stock (VIDEO)

I never expected to meet my first feature story or learn anything about a folding AR stock while hanging out having a smoke. There’s really only two times you’ll find me smoking: one if I’ve had a couple too many cocktails (which is rare these days with a five month old at home) and two if I’m in Las Vegas. So, when I decided to step out of the Sands Convention Center to have a smoke during SHOT Show 2018, I was only expecting to clear my head and try to comprehend the craziness that is a first time attending SHOT. Little did I know that I would meet my first feature story hanging out trying to do the same thing.

“Milwaukee, we’re practically neighbors,” I heard someone say. I looked up to see Ted Schumacher standing in front of me, sleeve full of tattoos, smoking a grit same as me. It’s always nice to run into fellow Badgers but it was especially welcoming in the sea of strangers that is the SHOT Show crowd. I looked down at his badge that read Brooklyn, Wisconsin.

“I didn’t even know there was a  Brooklyn Wisconsin,” I said.

“Most people don’t, you blink and you’ll miss it,” he replied.

Like most small towns in Wisconsin I came to find out that Brooklyn consisted of a handful of bars, a small school, a gas station and that’s about it. We got to talking and a he started telling me that Deadfoot Arms made folding stocks for the AR weapons platform. I had never heard of such a thing, so I was instantly intrigued by what it looked like. When he told me that he had guns painted in a Star Wars theme I was sold on stopping by the booth.

What I discovered about Ted, and all the guys at Deadfoot, is that there is incredible amount of grit, determination, and ingenuity running through the company. This video is only meant to serve as a small preview of the larger story to come about Deadfoot Arms, the first company to make a folding stock for the AR weapons platform that can still fire even when folded. How did they do it? You’ll have to stop back at Guns.com for the full story to find out.
