Though Springfield Armory dropped hints of a California compliant Saint earlier this year, the company has officially moved forward on production releasing a state compliant model.

The Saint, chambered in 5.56 NATO, features a free float handguard and comes factory-equipped with a state-approved stock, 10-round magazine and muzzle brake. The California model delivers the same performance as the standard Saint, but with the added benefit of not falling under the “assault rifle” category in the Golden state.

“This is not a stripped-down SAINT or a band-aid fix,” Springfield Armory CEO Dennis Reese said in a press release. “The California SAINT is a ground-up, factory-engineered response to some of the tightest regulations in the country. It gives California shooters an AR-15 they know is compliant and know they can count on. This SAINT is a solution – not a sacrifice.”

To combat California’s restrictive gun ownership laws, Springfield Armory outfitted the rifle with a Survivor System Option Zero stock. The lightweight, yet rugged stock offers a comfortable and intuitive grip for shooters. The angle of the grip places the user’s wrist in a natural position that allows for maximum control with minimal shooter fatigue. Additionally, the stock boasts on-board extra-magazine storage which comes in handy for California residents who are limited to 10-round mags.

Springfield tops the California Saint model off with a proprietary muzzle brake that dampens barrel jump while meeting state specifications.

“California shooters deserve a premium firearm that meets every challenge they face,” Reese commented. “With the California SAINT, we’re proud to offer them exactly that.”

The California compliant Saint is now available with a price tag of $1,135.
