Weatherby was founded in 1945 by Roy Weatherby, who was described as a thinker and tinkerer with innovative ideas. And what started as a humble sporting goods shop in Southern California more than seven decades ago, has grown to be one of the top brands in the gun industry.
Weatherby expanded and relocated several times over the years. Today, the company headquarters is located in Sheridan, Wyoming, a place where, according to the company, it is “surrounded by people and groups who protect our sporting heritage.” Still a family-owned business, Weatherby is currently operated by Adam Weatherby, a third-generation leader and the grandson of Roy Weatherby. Adam succeeded his father, Ed, in running the company, just as Ed followed in the footsteps of his father.
Today, Weatherby manufactures more than a dozen different variants each of the Mark V series and the Vanguard line. In celebration of the company’s success and rich history, they also offer the Legacy Rifle Models, over two dozen classic rifles that have proved tried and true over the years.
Of the Weatherby rifles for sale, the Mark V series is generally thought of as a premium rifle line, often with a higher price tag, while the Vanguard line is considered more budget-friendly.
